[SOLVED] Enzyme Defects and Metabolic Disorders

For this week’s discussion, we are going to focus on what happens when enzymes don’t work properly (typically a genetic mutation causes this problem – we will learn later in the term how this happens). Please read the following article: Metabolic Diseases. Choose one of the metabolic disorders listed in the article. Please describe both the disorder and the role of the enzyme that causes the disorder, and how its activity is affected by the defect. Are there any treatments being studied at the moment? Be sure to include at least one outside source that you have found, as well as list of your sources in MLA formatting.  Participatory responses should be at least 1 paragraph long – simply posting 1 sentence on how you agree is not sufficient.
