School systems throughout the world acknowledge that the quality of teaching is the most critical in-school factor impacting on student outcomes (Gore, et al., 2017 p. 99). OVERVIEW PLEASE REFER TO DOCUMENT DTL CRITERIA AND REFERENCE In this first assignment, you will write an essay on the foundation concepts covered in DTL in the context of challenges to the professionalism of teachers in the current educational landscape. You will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy; discuss how effective design incorporates aspects of professionalism, curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy (Outcomes 1, 5, &6); and engage with educational research as a source for best-practice in the profession (Outcome 8). NOTE: Essay draft is called Foundation of teaching- revision but i need to remove titles and try to integrate all 4 profession, pedadogies and curriculum and assessment together. It needs to be an essay and not a report.  ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS Consider the quote from Jennifer Gore et al. (2017) about the importance of quality teaching. Professor Gore fand her team developed the Quality Teaching Framework and has written numerous articles about the effects of quality teaching on student learning outcomes and school improvement. Write a 2,000-word critical discussion that considers what quality teaching is and the current issues that contribute to teachers’ work and professionalism in Australia. you are expected to demonstrate critical facilities and therefore can adopt your own position on this question, so long as you support your argument with academic sources to show that you have carefully considered the evidence in forming your viewpoint. In your response, we expect to see discussion about: – Teacher professionalism, incl. Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) – Curriculum, incl. Australian curriculum and NSW curriculum – Pedagogy, incl. NSW Quality Teaching model, Inquiry and Problem Based learning – Assessment, incl. National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), PISA. Better responses will demonstrate the interrelationship between teaching quality and curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment, and not just discuss these separately. Ensure your essay has a clear introduction, which previews your thesis (line of argument), has clearly developed paragraphs which build your arguments, and a strong conclusion which ties your arguments together. As you are entering an evidence-based profession, you must support your arguments with relevant scholarly sources. You can use course readings as evidence but you should also conduct your own research in academic journals (not 10 websites).  A minimum of five peer-reviewed journal articles are required.
