You can cited a source if needed but it is not recommended Please Reflect on this writing below : In the reading, Internal and external factors that encourage or discourage health behaviors, external factors include social support, media, socioculture/political/economic factors, biologic, health care system, environmental stressors, and societal laws and regulations (Cole et al., 1992). Cumulatively, these factors make up a large portion of the Social Determinants of Health, which are, “the range of personal, social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health status (Healthy People, 2020)”. Social determinants of health reflect the social factors and physical conditions of the environment in which people are born, live, learn, play, work, and age. Also known as social and physical determinants of health, they impact a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes. Some examples of social support factors include availability of resources to meet daily needs, social norms and attitudes, exposure to crime, violence, and social disorder, social support and social interactions, quality schools, and transportation options (Healthy People, 2020). Both access to health services and the quality of health services can impact health. Lack of access, or limited access, to health services greatly impacts an individual’s health status. Some other examples of barriers within the health care system are lack of availability, high cost, lack of insurance coverage, and limited language access which leads to unmet health needs, delays in receiving appropriate care, inability to get preventive services, and hospitalizations that could have been prevented (Healthy People, 2020).
