Read pages 206-215 and 247-260 Submit a 3-page reflection paper that addresses the following: 1. As mentioned in the textbook, the United States does not have paid maternity leave, putting it at odds with all but two other countries out of 178 worldwide. a. What is ONE economic consequence of this, short term or long term, for the country? (Consider consequences to society as a whole, not just relevant to the women involved, and not only regarding married women.) b. What is ONE social consequence? 2. Identify two historic developments that surprised you or that you think are particularly important. Why? 3. What impact could a change in constitutional law, regarding either abortion or contraceptives, have on our society?   4. Choose one of the health issues covered in the Women’s Health chapter (pg 247-260) In what ways does this issue affect women or girls in a way that is distinct from men or boys? Are there ways to “level the playing field” to avoid disparities? 5. Consider parenting. Identify ONE way that the role of a parent is different now (for your generation) as compared to your parent’s generation and your grandparent’s generation? What are some reasons for this difference?
